Blizzard is removing references to 'sacks' and 'ho's' from World of Warcraft
Following a California lawsuit alleging widespread employee harassment and discrimination, Blizzard developers are working to remove inappropriate in-game content. A pair of World of Warcraft achievements are next on the chopping block.
The achievement "My Sack is Gigantique" will be renamed "My Storage is Gigantique," according to the Icy Veins forum. The achievement was obtained by equipping a "Gigantique" bag from an NPC named Haris Pilton, who is a parody of the celebrity Paris Hilton. In the World's End Tavern in Shattrath City, a major city introduced in the Burning Crusade expansion, "Pilton" would ask the player, "Is your sack Gigantique?"
"Bros. Before Ho Ho Ho's," another achievement, will be renamed "Holiday Bromance." That one was earned by using mistletoe on eight Alliance NPCs whose names included the word "Brother."
The changes will be included in World of Warcraft's 9.1.5 update, which is currently available on the PTR but will be released in the fall. The changes are minor in comparison to Blizzard's previous promises, but they could be the start of a series of tweaks to smaller portions of the game. World of Warcraft was released in 2004, which was a very different time in terms of pop culture and social norms than 2021, so it's not surprising that some in-game jokes haven't aged well.
