In response to AMC accepting Dogecoin, Elon Musk says it's'super important for Doge fees to drop.'
Elon Musk's enthusiasm for Dogecoin is well-known. Indeed, he has stated that he wishes to place the cryptocurrency on the Moon. Now, Musk has presented a new take on Dogecoin, which has caused a stir on Twitter. On the microblogging site, the SpaceX and Tesla founder stated that Dogecoin handling fees should be reduced to make purchases like movie tickets "viable" for the average consumer. Musk was responding to a tweet asking if AMC would accept Dogecoin. “Super important for Doge fees to drop to make things like buying movie tix viable,” the tech billionaire responded.
The first tweet in this regard, from co-creator of Dogecoin Billy Markus, mentioned the news of AMC CEO taking steps to accept the cryptocurrency and discussing its popularity. “With Robinhood announcing wallets and AMC CEO saying Dogecoin was the single most interacted with tweet he has ever made, the crypto market is finally seeing some green. “I've got to say...” Markus, who goes by the Twitter handle Shibetoshi Nakamoto, followed up with a meme that said, "Today was a good day."
AMC announced earlier this month that by the end of the year, it would accept Ether, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin for ticket purchases. The initial list did not include Dogecoin.
Following the announcement, AMC CEO Adam Aron asked Twitter users if they thought Dogecoin should be added to the list. The results of the poll were in favor of Dogecoin as a payment method, and Musk even “liked” the tweet.
Aron went on to say that the company is working on accepting Dogecoin. He also claimed that the poll was his "highest ever read tweet," with 4.2 million views in less than 24 hours.
