Spotify is expanding its AI-driven playlist creation tool for premium users to four new markets, including the United States and Canada, the Swedish streaming giant announced on Tuesday. The AI Playlist, currently in beta, allows subscribers to personalize their music selection with additional text prompts.
As part of its global expansion, Spotify is also rolling out the AI Playlist feature in Ireland and New Zealand. This move aims to attract more subscribers by enhancing its app with AI capabilities amid increasing competition from rivals like Apple and Amazon.com.
Launched earlier in the UK and Australia in April, the feature is still in beta and won't support non-music-related prompts, such as those about current events or specific brands.
Spotify also offers other AI-powered tools like 'daylist', a daily updated personalized playlist, and 'AI DJ', which curates music based on user preferences. In the second quarter, the company saw a 12% growth in paying subscribers, reaching 246 million.
