Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster Listed by ESRB for PS5 and PC Release

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered rated by ESRB for PS5 and PC, but Sony and Guerrilla Games have yet to confirm an official release date.

A remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn has reportedly been in development for some time, and now the game has been rated by the ESRB. Sony has yet to officially confirm the remastered version. A PC port, Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition, was released in 2020, three years after the action-adventure title debuted on PS4.

A new ESRB listing, as spotted by VGC, has surfaced for Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, indicating a release for PlayStation 5 and PC. However, no further details about the remaster have been disclosed.

Neither Sony nor developer Guerrilla Games have confirmed the remastered version or its launch date. The ESRB listing, though, suggests it's on the horizon. Sony has recently greenlit multiple remasters and remakes, including both The Last of Us remaster and remake. Earlier this year, a remastered version of The Last of Us Part II was released for PS5, just three-and-a-half years after its PS4 debut.

In 2022, reports surfaced that a Horizon Zero Dawn remaster was in development, with enhanced lighting, textures, and animations. The PS5 version is expected to feature accessibility options, quality-of-life improvements, and multiple graphic modes prioritizing either fidelity or performance.

It’s worth noting that Horizon Zero Dawn already received a patch enabling 60fps on PS5 through backward compatibility.

A sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, launched for PS4 and PS5 in 2022, with a PC port following this year. Sony is also preparing to release Lego Horizon Adventures, a Lego-themed spin-off retelling Horizon Zero Dawn's story, coming to PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch later this year.
